Overview
The SMB 75 Ohm PCB Male Connector manufactured by Zhenjiang Tongda Company is a compact RF coaxial connector featuring a push-on quick-connect mechanism and a characteristic impedance of 75Ω. Designed for PCB mounting, it offers a small footprint, ease of installation, and stable transmission performance.
Mechanical structure
1. Push-on Locking Mechanism
Unlike the threaded structure of SMA connectors, SMB connectors feature an internal elastic collet within the housing. Upon insertion into the SMB female jack, the collet expands and then springs back to grip the outer wall, enabling quick, self-locking mating without the need for threading. It maintains clamping force and ensures reliable contact even after more than 500 mating cycles.
2. Male Connector Configuration
The J-type (male) connector features a protruding solid center pin designed to insert into the female jack's elastic socket, establishing reliable electrical contact. The contact surface is gold-plated to minimize contact resistance and provide oxidation resistance.
3. PCB Through-Hole Mounting Structure (E-type Straight Mount)
Center pin: Soldered to the PCB signal pad to transmit RF signals;
Peripheral grounding legs: Soldered through the PCB grounding pads, providing a comprehensive, short-path ground connection for the connector housing;
Function: Shortens the grounding loop, reduces RF return path impedance, enhances shielding performance, and provides mechanical stability against vibration.
