A Small RF Accessory
N CAP is a very simple RF accessory.
It is basically a protective cap for an unused N Type connector. We often receive inquiries about this kind of small part together with RF connectors or coaxial cable assemblies.
For me, there is no need to make this product sound complicated. The important things are simple: the size needs to be right, the cap needs to match the connector, and it should stay in place during use.
Keeping the Connector Covered
An N Type Connector may not always be connected to a cable or another device.
When the interface is left open, dust and moisture can get into the connector area, especially when the equipment is installed outdoors or used in a dusty working environment.
This is where an N Type Protective Cap comes in.
Put it on when the connector is not being used. Take it off when the connection is needed.
That is really what this product is about.
Matching Matters
One thing I pay attention to when talking with customers is the fit.
N connectors may look similar from the outside, but their dimensions and structures are not necessarily the same. So an N Type Connector Cap should not simply be selected by appearance.
If you have a connector part number, drawing or even a clear product photo, send it to us. I normally prefer to check the connector first before confirming the N CAP.
It saves trouble later, especially for larger orders.
Materials and Finish
Metal construction is common for an N Connector Cap. Brass with nickel plating is one option, but the actual material and finish can be discussed according to the application.
Some customers already have their own material or plating requirements. That is fine.

With or Without a Chain
A chain is another small option worth mentioning.
For an N Type Dust Cap used on outdoor equipment or test equipment, the cap may be removed quite often. Without a chain, it is easy to put it somewhere and forget where it went.
Adding a chain keeps the N CAP with the connector.
Not every application needs it, of course. It depends on how the equipment is used.
